Girls Softball

Overview

The Sussex-Lisbon Youth Baseball Association’s Recreational Program is designed to teach players the fundamentals of softball while having fun. Softball is a game that can last a lifetime providing years of fun and fitness. We are always looking for parents/adult volunteers to get involved in our program. If you are interested in coaching or volunteering please let us know.

Things to know:

  • Practices begin the last week of April thru the middle of May; by division, weather permitting
  • One to two scheduled games per week after opening weekend. (Monday thru Friday!)
  • League will consist of Lisbon, Merton and Lake Country Area teams
  • Games will be played during the week; make-up games may take place on the weekend
  • Coaches can elect for more practices if field space permits
  • Games will be played at Lisbon, Merton or Lake Country area Fields
  • Season begins with Opening Day Game (typically Saturday before Memorial Weekend)
  • Season ends with League Tournament  (Final game(s) are on Saturday)

Age Groups - Leagues are based on grade (rather than age) as of CURRENT school year.

Girls A - Current School Grades 1,2 

This division for 1st, and 2nd grade will combine machine and coach pitch.  Division will be capped at 4 teams of 10-12 players in 2019. This division will play inter-community games with Merton, Pewaukee, and Hartland teams.

Girls AA - Current School Grades 3,4

This division for 3rd and 4th grade will be machine pitch. The coaches will work on hand/eye coordination, proper batting stance and swing as outlined in the Fundamentals Handbook for Coaches. Division will be capped at 4 teams of 10-12 players in 2019. This division will play inter-community games with Merton, Pewaukee, and Hartland teams.

Girls AAA - Current School Grades 5,6

This division for 5th and 6th grade will be player pitch. The coaches will work on hand/eye coordination, proper batting stance and swing as outlined in the Fundamentals Handbook for Coaches. Division will be capped at 2 teams of 10-12 players in 2019. This division will play inter-community games with Merton, Pewaukee, and Hartland teams.

Girls Majors - Current School Grades 7, 8, 9

This division for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade will be player pitch. The coaches will work on hand/eye coordination, proper batting stance and swing as outlined in the Fundamentals Handbook for Coaches. Division will be capped at 2 teams of 10-12 players in 2019. This division will play inter-community games with Merton, Pewaukee, and Hartland teams.

Game Cancellations

Games are cancelled for lightning and/or unplayable fields. Games are not cancelled by coaches, it is a SLYBA Board decision 30 minutes prior. Cancelling practices is up to each coach, but may be cancelled by the SLYBA should there be lightning and/or unplayable fields. 

How do I Register?

If you already have an account with us, please click on log-in in the upper right-hand corner. If you do not have a household account, please click on register. This will enable you to create a household account and you will then be able to receive emails from SLYBA about upcoming registration and other important events. Payment is due at the time of registration online. There will be no in-person registration in 2018, all registration is completed online. 

Refunds

Once a division has the enrollment to field a team, there are no refunds for any reason. If a division does not get enough participation to field a team, then there  is a 100% refund. 

Uniforms and Equipment

SLYBA provides team uniforms, practice and game balls, batting helmets, as well as tees, pitching machine and catcher equipment (if applicable).

For practices wear comfortable clothes appropriate for the weather, cleats, and bring softball glove and water bottle.  For games wear the full uniform provided by SLYBA, and bring your glove and water bottle. If you have your own bat, you are allowed to use it.
