Boys Baseball

Overview

The Sussex-Lisbon Youth Baseball Association’s Recreational Baseball Program is designed to teach players the fundamentals of baseball while having fun. Baseball is a game that can last a lifetime providing years of fun and fitness. We are always looking for parents/adult volunteers to get involved in our baseball program, if you are interested in coaching or volunteering please let us know.

SLYBA offers the following Age Divisions. The goal of the league is to teach the players the fundamentals of the game, the value of sportsmanship, and the importance of teamwork. Most importantly, however is that the kids have a lot of fun while participating. 

Age Groups - Leagues are based on grade (rather than age) as of CURRENT school year.

Boys A - Grades 1, 2 - Machine / Coach Pitch

The single A league is an instructional league for boys in 1st and 2nd grade. All games for this division are played within Sussex and Lisbon fields against other SLYBA teams. Read more...

Boys AA - Grades 3, 4

The AA league is a developmental recreation league for boys in 3rd and 4th grade. This division plays games in the Land O’ Hills recreational baseball league. This is a player / coach pitch division. Players pitch every at bat, when the player pitcher has pitched 4 balls, the coach steps in and pitches to the batter until the batter either gets a hit or strikes out. There are no walks in this division. This division will play a 10-12 game schedule and will have a total of 5-6 road games in the neighboring communities of Merton, Monches, North Lake and Erin. Boys AAA - Grades 5, 6

The AAA league developmental recreation league for boys in 5th and 6th grade. This division plays games in the Pewaukee Youth Recreation Baseball League and Lake Country Youth Baseball League. During league scheduling in April the intent will be to keep Sussex-Lisbon team’s road games as close to Sussex as possible. This division will play a 12 game schedule and will have a total of 6 road games in neighboring communities like Pewaukee, Monches, Merton, North Lake, and Erin. The majors league developmental recreation league for boys in 7th and 8th grade. This division plays games in the Pewaukee Youth Recreation Baseball League and Lake Country Youth Baseball League. Coaching Opportunities

We are always looking for parents/adult volunteers to help by coaching a recreational baseball team.  We hope you will consider helping our SLYBA Recreational Baseball Program by coaching or volunteering. If interested please contact any board member (see contact us page). Also there is a section in the online registration program to volunteer/coach.

When and Where are Practices

  • Practices are held on Town of Lisbon and Village of Sussex baseball and softball fields. Practices start in late April and will generally run through the end of May.
  • Practices are held on weeknights between Monday and Thursdays. (practice dates are dependent on the team your child is place on, the coach's availability and the availability of practice fields).
  • Games will start the last week of May and run through the end of July.
  • Most games are scheduled on weeknights at 6:00 p.m.
  • Regular Season games are on weeknight evenings.
  • The only weekend game is in all divisions is the last Saturday of the Season.
  • The single A division has a Super Saturday 1 day event, and the AA, AAA, and Majors divisions have an end of season tournament in July.

Game Cancellations

Games are cancelled for lightning and/or unplayable fields. Games are not cancelled by coaches, it is a SLYBA Board decision 30 minutes prior. Cancelling practices is up to each coach, but may be cancelled by the SLYBA should there be lightning and/or unplayable fields. 

Registration Fees

Registration Fees range from $175 to $225 per player. A $25 discount is available to families with multiple players in the recreational league.  A $50 discount is available to coaches who volunteer.

How do I Register?

Registration is online only.  If you already have an account with us, please click on log-in in the upper right-hand corner. If you do not have a household account, please click on register. This will enable you to create a household account and you will then be able to receive emails from SLYBA about upcoming registration and other important events. Payment is due at the time of registration.

Refunds

There are no refunds for any reason.

Uniforms and Equipment

SLYBA provides practices and game balls, bats, tees (for A division), and catcher equipment. For practices wear comfortable clothes appropriate for the weather to practice in, baseball cleats, and bring baseball glove and water bottle.

For games wear the full uniform provided by SLYBA, to include jersey, hat, and pants. Bring your baseball glove and water bottle. If you have your own bat, you are allowed to use it.
